Czechoslovaks and Poles in royal air force
during the battle of Britain
Aleš Binar
Summary: The study deals with the involvement of foreign pilots in the Battle of Britain, namely Czechoslovaks and Poles. Until now, a number of studies and monographs have described the formation and deployment of Czechoslovak and Polish pilots. However, no comparative analysis of both groups has been conducted. Therefore, this study focuses on a comparison of the legal status of Czechoslovak and Polish air force units, as well as their numbers, formations, and structure. Using this approach, the aim is to identify similarities and differences and to place the phenomenon of Czechoslovak and Polish pilots in the RAF within a shared context.
